There generally were no key work differences, nor were they cheaper copies of older models. The only difference was in the engraving. JK stencil horns were the same as their brand-name counterparts. (I ran out of poll options, since we're only allowed 10 per poll.) Stencils count here as well, I just couldn't add a category for them in the poll. (I'm talking tenors here.) Depending on the mood I'm in, I'll often take my JK to a show, and leave my VI behind. The Keilwerth is a killer horn in its own right, and can very easily hold its own against my Mark VI. Sure, our horns might not be as popular as the Mark VI, but as an owner of both a killer VI, and a 1957 Toneking, I can honestly say that the JK does not play 2nd fiddle to the Selmer. :bluewink:Īnyway, as the title says, all you vintage JK Toneking & The New King saxophone players, it's time we stood up and get counted.
